Rigby Announces More Than $354,000 in Grants for Cambria, Somerset County Emergency Responders

February 18, 2026

HARRISBURG – Emergency responders in the 71st Legislative District are being awarded more than $353,000 in grants according to state Rep. Jim Rigby (R-Cambria/Somerset).

“As our emergency responders across the Commonwealth struggle to remain viable as costs rise and the number of volunteers dwindles, this funding is critical. Each dollar dedicated to fire and ambulance companies makes a real difference to the safety of our communities in the 71st District,” Rigby said.

The grant recipients are as follows:
• Ashville Fire Company - $15,105.
• Adams Township Volunteer Fire Company (Dunlo) - $13,663.
• Adams Township Volunteer Fire Company (St. Michael) - $16,136.
• East Hills Ambulance - $15,000.
• Forest Hills Area Ambulance - $15,000.
• Gallitzin Fire Department - $16,136.
• Keystone Regional Fire/Rescue Department - $28,136.
• Northern Regional Fire Station - $28,136.
• Oakland Volunteer Fire Company - $28,136.5
• Portage Volunteer Fire Company - $40,136.
• Richland Township Fire Department - $28,136.

• Summerhill Township Volunteer Fire Company - $14,075.
• West Hills Regional Fire Department - $52,136.
• Windber Fire Company No. 1 - $15,312.

Funding for these grants is not derived from General Fund tax revenue, but rather from state gaming proceeds and Fireworks Tax revenue. The grant program was created by the Legislature and is administered by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner.
