Rigby to Host Shredding Event
September 5, 2025
HARRISBURG - State Rep. Jim Rigby (R-Cambria/Somerset) invites residents of the 71st Legislative District to take advantage of the shredding event he is hosting on Wednesday, Sept. 10, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Richland Township Fire Department, 1321 Scalp Ave., Johnstown.
“When you simply throw old tax returns or paperwork containing your personal information out with the trash, you run the risk of having your identity stolen,” Rigby said. “Events like this offer you a free opportunity to safely dispose of your valuable belongings.”
Items to be disposed of should be placed in the trunk of your car or truck bed of your vehicle in a container like a box or paper bag. Burgmeier's Hauling of Johnstown will handle shredding and disposal of all paper.
“Identity theft can lead to financial losses, damage to your credit score, and other serious problems,” added Rigby. “Thieves can open new accounts, make unauthorized purchases, steal your tax refund and even impersonate you in legal situations.”
Questions about this or any state government issue should be directed to Rigby’s Cresson office at 814-886-1055, his Ferndale office at 814-536-9818, or his Somerset County office at 1-814-509-6942.
