Rigby to Honor Local Vietnam Veteran

WHAT: State Rep. Jim Rigby (R-Cambria/Somerset) will host a ceremony to dedicate the Gallitzin Road/State Route 53 which crosses the Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks in Gallitzin Township, Cambria County, as the Corporal James R. Beck USMC Memorial Bridge.

Beck, a graduate of Cresson Joint High School (now Penn Cambria High School), was killed on Oct. 23, 1968, in the Quang Nam Province of South Vietnam as the result of an explosive device detonating nearby.

WHO: Rigby will be joined by members of the Beck family.

WHEN: Thursday, Oct. 24, at 1 p.m.

WHERE: American Legion Post 238, 222 Ashcroft Ave., Cresson.
